MY Favorite Titles

Hello, my name is Tom Mosley.  I have been in the insurance field for 10 years – with a five-year gap.  In 1999, I took a position in sales with Electric Mobility Corporation in Sewell, New Jersey.   Electric Mobility manufactures and sells the Rascal scooter that helps mobility-challenged people get around.

Starting out as a sales rep, I was promoted to area manager, regional manager, district manager, national trainer, and eventually Executive Vice President.  This final position meant I flew across the country from my home in Southern California to New Jersey on Sunday night three times each month, spent four days there running the company each trip, and flew back late on Thursday night.  This position brought prestige, income, experience, frequent flyer miles, and absolute misery!  Don’t get me wrong - the business actually exploded and almost doubled the company in size.  But, I had no business being in that business because it diverted my focus from my main business.

What are your important titles?

You see, the most important titles I have ever had are, believe it or not, “Sweetie,” and “Daddy.”  My wife, Suzan, calls me “Sweetie” (at least most of the time).  We have been married for 10 years and she is the love of my life.  She was a stay at home soccer-baseball-dance-basketball mom, but now we are pushing for her to be fully-employed, in charge of new business at Mosley Financial Services helping me with my insurance business.

My other main title, “Daddy,” is used by Amanda (27), Andrea (26), Rachael (15), Travis (12), and Mackenzie (8).  All four girls either were or currently are dancers.  All four lead their performing teams and do solos in dance competitions.  All four were or are involved in other sports as well.  My son, Travis, is my All-Star – in everything.  Two weeks ago he pitched his 4th career no-hitter in Little League and Travel Baseball.  This weekend he is in the NJB National Tournament, leading his team from the point-guard position.  He was on a club soccer team until he “retired” to focus on just the two sports of Baseball and Basketball.  The nice thing about being “Daddy” is I get to manage and coach Travis.

What do I get with OFG?

What does all this have to do with selling insurance and Only Financial?  Working with and through Only Financial allows me to keep my priorities straight.  Working through Only Financial allows me to earn the income I need to support my family and to be able to do it with the flexibility to be totally involved in their lives and activities on a daily basis.

I first got involved in direct response insurance marketing in 1997, before my experience with the scooter company.  I had some measure of success in the two years I worked it.  The problem with direct selling B.O. (Before Only) was it left your business activity fragmented.  I had to go multiple places for leads that varied greatly in quality.  I had to go another place for a quote engine.  I had to go another place for a client management tool.  Once I wrote business I felt I was on the outside looking in at the life insurance company through the underwriting process.

It’s all in one at OFG.

I thank God that in the very month I left Electric Mobility to be with my family and sell life insurance through the direct response method, August 2004, I found out about Only Financial.  Only through Only can you find the leads, the quote engine, the client management tool, the impaired risk help, the support and training all in one package that will allow you to make your business a success.

I “played around” with Only Financial until December of 2004.  Once I learned that they could be thoroughly trusted to have our mutual best interest at heart, I did what Pat Wedeking wrote in his article last month when he said, “You gotta plug in to get turned on.”

I look forward to working through Only Financial for years to come.  I hope our relationship can someday be classified as a symbiotic relationship – one that benefits both parties.  Right now I feel like a parasite - because the benefits from our relationship are pretty one-sided in my favor.
