Bio of Elaine Leonard
Email: elainel@insuranceonly.com
I was born in Salzburg,
Austria. My father was a military liaison to NATO and we were stationed there
for a few years. His work kept the family on the move throughout Europe. While
in Germany I attended the American School at the University of Heidelberg. We
returned to the US when Dad retired in 1970, and it was then we settled in the
Seattle area, where I attended the University of Washington.
I started my professional
career in the 1980’s in the mortgage banking industry as an underwriter where I
enjoyed 20 successful years. I have worked off and on in other industries over
the years for the change and the new challenge, but tended to land back in what
I knew best, mortgage banking. During the last economic downturn, I committed to
learn something new so I could make a permanent career change. That’s when I
discovered InsuranceOnly and Only Financial Group.
I started out as the
contracting manager for OFG, processing and facilitating carrier appointments
for our newly recruited agents and guiding them through the complicated
contracting maze. Recently I’ve assumed additional responsibilities as case
manager with our internal Shop, TermOnly, as well as heading all administration
for both OFG and InsuranceOnly. My days are full, but I do enjoy working
directly with our agents and encourage them to call or email when they have
questions.
I feel truly blessed to be
where I am today and just recently completed my first full year. It’s been an
intense learning process and there’s still more to come. InsuranceOnly is a
family of professionals who are supportive and encouraging—a special thanks to
Brad and Pat, for being there for me. I just can’t imagine myself being
anywhere else; I’ve found a home. The future is bright for all of us!
I have a wonderful husband
Barry and a terrific son Andrew. Andrew is an accomplished bowler and recently
received a trophy for scoring 275 in a single game. He’s also earned
scholarships to continue his pursuit of a pro career. Barry is a journeyman
welder for the trucking giant Kenworth Truck Co. where he has enjoyed success
for 26 years. It’s an amazingly huge facility here in Seattle and visitors
frequent the Kenworth campus. Though huge, it’s not always smooth sailing in the
trucking industry as it feels the economic swings first, but Barry’s solid
reputation and skills have always seen him through.
In my spare time I do a variety
of things. I’m a certified scuba diver, a skydiver with over 100 jumps, a
private pilot, a licensed commercial driver and on the slow days enjoy water and
snow skiing (by the way, there’s nothing better than skiing the Alps, or surfing
in Hawaii). Barry and I are involved in outreach ministries in the community,
through our church, and teach Sunday School. What's next you ask? I am saving
all my pennies, dimes and Buffalo nickels for a new Harley. Hopefully, I’ll get
one before I’m in a walker!
